Remembering Grandma
Today would have been my Grandma's 96th birthday. It's such a difficult thing to lose someone to such a destructive and heartless disease. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to have to go through that kind of pain. I know she is in a much better place now, but I wish we had had more time to spend together. She was a wonderful Grandma for the time I was fortunate enough to have her in my life.

I miss you with all of my heart, Grandma. I hope we will be together again, someday. ♥

For those of you who are newer friends, I've posted about my Grandma before here if you'd like to read more background information.

Missing those we love is so hard. I yearn for my mom every single day. I feel like it's so unfair that I lost her when I was only 29 and she only 53.

*hugs tight*

I'm so sorry!

I can understand how you feel a 100 %. I lost my wonderful Grandma (Her name was Maria - that's why I named my other lj marys_angel) almost 10 years ago.
I still miss her and always will. Her birthday is on Feb. 27th...

I'm sure you're Grandma is proud of you wherever she is now.

*hugs you tightly*

*hugs tight* Losing your family members can be hard. I lost my uncle in 2001, and my grandfather a year or so before that. They are in a better place now, but it doesn't make it easy for us here still on earth. I still miss my uncle sometimes if I think about it.

Aw, hon :( It really is hard, I know. I read about your grandma and I went through the same thing with my great-aunt. We had such fun times when I was little. She was a great storyteller. We'd sit together on my grandparents' porch and she'd tell me stories, and I'd tell her about stories I made up. We played card games and all that sort of thing. She then got Alzheimers and it depressed me going to visit her. She'd get upset about how she couldn't remember things and she'd say things like I don't love her anymore. It was awful. :( My grandma was taking care of her and my grandfather who had Parkinson's. Finally she was convinced to put my great-aunt in a nursing home - by this time she had dementia. She passed away from pneumonia complications in 1998. She was about 87. I still really miss her and there are times where it still hurts, even though I try to remind myself she's in a better place.

*big hugs*

Aww, you are such a sweetheart! I'm so sorry about your Great Aunt going through the same thing. It was definitely one of the hardest things I've had to experience. I was really close with my Grandma up until age three and then they had to move down south, so I never got to see her much unless we visited or vice versa. I wish I'd been able to spend much more quality time together with her. By the time they moved back to this area she'd begun to show signs of the disease and just wasn't the same person. :(

The worst part was watching her slowly detiorate. Eventually my Grandpa had to put her in a nursing home as well and she really went downhill after that. We'd go to visit and she wouldn't know who we were and was tied to a wheelchair because she'd fallen and hurt her hip. It was just heartbreaking. I can't let myself think about it much because it's just too painful to relive.

Thank you so much for being such a supportive and lovely friend, it means a great deal to me! *hugs back*

*Hugs* I completely understand how you feel. Even though my grandpa died when I was 4 (he was only 50), I have felt like I've known him my entire life. Even going through his personal things makes me really emotional.
What makes me feel better is that we all have a part of someone who we truly loved and they'll always live in our hearts.
