Help, Anybody?!
I was wondering, for those that make graphics, how do you maintain the color and quality of the graphic when you save it? Everytime I make something and get the coloring the way I like it, I post it and the coloring seems somewhat faded. :( I save it as a png image, but I don't know what else to do. Any help would be much appreciated. ♥

Do you mean on Tumblr, or in general? If you are talking about Tumblr, the graphics cannot be bigger than 500kb in filesize, or else Tumblr will screw the quality over.

Yes, I meant Tumblr. I thought that pics could be up to 10mb. *facepalm* I'm so confused. :(

They can be up to 10MB, but if they are bigger than 500kb Tumblr messes with the quality, which is the problem you are having.

That really sucks. :( I've tried to reduce the size, but I'm not sure how to do it.

Do you use some program like Gimp or Photoshop? The png format works fine for me, they save fine in jpg too, you just have to play with the settings a bit, but I always use png and never had quality loss.

I don't have a tumblr so I have no idea what that does other then blogging. If you want to do art, I recommend Gimp, (just check which version you get, Mac or PC) that one is free and doesn't even take up much space and is almost as good as PS. :-)

I use Photoshop. It just seems to be the coloring that fades a bit, and I can't understand why. Perhaps I'll have to check out Gimp!

Not sure if this is the same problem, but mine used to do that too. So I started using the "Save for Web" method instead of just going to "Save As" in Photoshop, and then put it on the highest PNG setting. That worked for me.

Good luck!

Hmm, I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion and good luck wishes. ♥

That's really odd. Is this for tumblr? Because maybe the file size is bigger than it'll allow, so it's cutting the quality down :\ Photobucket does that too if a pic/gif is over I think is 1 or 2 MBs. Which program do you use?

Yeah, it's mainly for Tumblr. The file isn't bigger than 10mb (which it says you can use), but apparently if the size is more than 500kb the quality gets altered? I don't really understand, but it's difficult to reduce the size. I'm just using CS3 and then uploading the image to Tumblr.

Talk about misinformation. Bloody hell. Not sure about CS3 (I'm still on CS2). The 'size for web' is probably the best and easiest option. Do know other way but only through ImageReady, couldn't find it in Photoshop :\

I saw that someone already suggested it... but I just want to confirm it. I also use the "Save for Web" option and this way, the colors stay how they are. Before that, I also had the same problems as you. But now everything is fine.
I hope it helps you, too.

I think I'm going to try that and see what happens. ^^
